The open call Poéticas Corporales de Mujeres en Bogotá-Experiencias artísticas en el Espacio Público was focused on the topic of women, poetry and body experiences in public spaces. Noor us Sabah in collaboration with Ginna Vélez proposed to develop a performance piece, for that they designed exercises to share their own individual positions in relation to their local contexts respectively Bogotá/Karachi. They also invited other women residing in different geographical locations to share their experiences to understand if their experiences are similar or different depending on the gender, local contexts and particular spaces.
The participants contributed through audios about real or created stories, memories, own experiences, short paragraph or poetry from other writers which expressed/reminded them their personal experience in public spaces, its inaccessibility because fear, violence, exclusion or harassment. The collected audios were from friends, colleagues and acquaintances respectively from Canada, Romania, España, Portugal, México, Brazil, Australia, Pakistan and Colombia.
In relation to the open call Fundación Waja also organized workshops on performance including physical exercises inside the institution and in public spaces. Ginna was present in Bogotá with the event organizers and the other participants and Noor joined through the video-calls by using Skype from Pakistan.
